Op LYRIC - Anti Social Behaviour Concern Update

Op LYRIC - Anti Social Behaviour Concern Update

Here’s a quick update on anti-social behaviour locally. We know it can be distressing, but we’re working closely with partners to make the area safer and support residents.

On the 6th October 2026, officers from the Bloomsbury neighbourhood policing team and our borough Street Duties unit undertook deployment under Op LYRIC. Joined by officers from our Modern Day Slavery Team at Specialist Crime, and partners from Immigration, the teams proactively engaged with those residing at a rough sleeping encampment North of Bloomsbury Ward, adjacent to Warren Street.

As part of this engagement, policing teams and partners made enquiries around individual safeguarding, providing offers of assistance and support where appropriate. Enquiries also identified a number of individuals outstanding for offences. A total of five arrests were made, with three granted bail at location, and a further individual departing voluntarily.

Your local Ward officers will continue to monitor the location, working to safeguard and support vulnerable individuals as appropriate. We will continue to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and partners to ensure we are proactively achieving positive outcomes for all of our local communities.

Across London we’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals - including with new tech like live facial recognition cameras, drones and e-bikes.

Antisocial behaviour can come in many forms and can require support from more organisations than just the police. A full list of what we categorise as antisocial behaviour is available on our website.
